The main responsibilities include managing, growing, entrenchment and client retention in a portfolio of private clients. The average portfolio size is 600 customers, in detail some of the responsibilities include the following:

• Client engagement and reviews, this includes engaging with clients on a daily basis to perform annual review. Solutioning for clients through what matters and meaningful conversations with clients, unpacking growth opportunities for clients, turning complaints into business opportunities and entrenching clients.

• Service management, our aim is to keep service at top levels and ensure NPS scores are over 80% for portfolio. Service is key.

• Using tools & Identifying new business opportunities and cross selling across existing client base, in order to achieve defined financial budgets.

• Ensuring adherence to applicable laid down procedures and legislation and compliance requirements, compliance is a gateway.

• Pro-active contact management to Identify acquisition opportunities through referrals and key market role players. Networking and attending key events that will unlock new business opportunities.

• Planning, coordinating and hosting client appreciation events, through collaboration with internal stakeholders and brands.

As i started my journey in banking i got an opportunity to rotate and expose myself across various departments within the consumer and high net worth segments. This were my focus areas throughout the 18 month period of the learnership:

• As part of the learnership, I worked at branch frontline assisting walk in clients with queries and general banking requests. Whilst at the branch the focus was not only service, but also determining identifying sales opportunities for branch and leads for cross sell.

• Prestige Banking, I worked closer with prestige banker under supervision in managing a prestige portfolio focused on service and acquisition. This helped in building a strong foundation and understanding the relationship banking model.

• Whilst the branch laid a strong foundation in terms of bank processes, procedures and risk management. It was easier to transition to Private Banking where i started with relieving vacant portfolios for bankers that were on leave etc and improved my skills in portfolio management and becoming more of a seasoned banker.
