History and Politics Teacher

Drake Junior Co-Ed Housemaster

  • I was able to build on my previous experience and manage the change in a seamless fashion.

Drake Junior Boys Housemaster

The Royal Hospital School
09.2009 - 09.2013
  • A hugely rewarding and demanding experience running a day and boarding house of 90+ year 7/8 boys.
  • This not only developed my management skills, given a staff of 13 involved in the house, but also provided great experience in integrating a new venture into a school.
  • At the core of it all was the key skill of communication.

Planning and setting up the new Junior Boys House

The Royal Hospital School
12.2008 - 09.2009
  • This was an entirely new venture for the school and I was part of the team that developed the concept and put it into practice over a 16-month period.

Tettenhall College
09.2004 - 08.2006
  • This post covered all the normal aspects of a Head of Department from inspection paperwork to examination reports and development of the courses taught at each Key stage.
  • One of the more innovative aspects of the job was development of a departmental tracking scheme for all pupils, which dove tailed with baseline testing to provide a basis for assessing progress throughout the school year.

09.2003 - 08.2006
  • This was a broad ranging role with specific responsibility for aspects relating to prefects and pupil voice.
